Essel Mining & Industries Limited (EMIL) is one of the oldest mining companies in India. Operating since 1950, EMIL has expanded its business into coal mining, diamond mining, Noble Ferro Alloys, iron pellets and renewable energy.

During its inception, the company was only dealing with iron ore and Manganese mining. Subsequently, it forayed into Nobel Ferro Alloys manufacturing. In 2012 for the first time it took up the challenge to operate a coal mine of Government of India on MDO mode.

Within a very short span, EMIL could establish not only as one of the largest producers of Noble Ferro-Alloys but the leading MDO in the Coal Mining space of the country. Meanwhile, the government policies allowed private companies to operate commercial coal mines; grabbing the opportunity, the company further diversified its portfolio to commercial coal, diamond project, and value-added products such as pellets.
