Bunder Diamond

Essel Mining & Industries Limited (EMIL) acquired the mining lease of the Bunder Diamond Block following competitive bidding process of the government. The kimberlite ore resource of the block is estimated around 53.70 million tons containing about 34 million carats of rough diamonds. 

Bunder diamond block is located in Buxwaha region of Chhatarpur district in Madhya Pradesh. Letter to Intent for Grant of Mining Lease has been issued by Government of Madhya Pradesh in favour of EMIL in 2019.

Bunder Diamond Block is a greenfield mining project covering an area of 364 hectares. The project is about 80 Kilometer from Chhatarpur, the district headquarter and 260 Kilometer from Bhopal the state capital.

EMIL plans to develop a fully mechanised Open Cast mine and state of the art processing plant for recovery of diamonds with an investment of around 2500 crore rupees. The project once operational have the potential to become one of the largest diamond mines in the Asian region. EMIL is currently in the process of obtaining various regulatory clearances such as approval of mine plan, environment & forest clearances required for execution of mining lease.
