BCML, located in Angul district, Odisha, is a Mine Developer and Operator (MDO) project of EMIL for Mahanadi Coalfields Limited. Since commencing operations in November 2011, BCML has demonstrated exceptional growth, increasing production from 11 million tons in FY 2012-13 to 28 million tons in 2020-21.

Recognized for achieving the fastest ramp-up in Indian coal mining history, BCML reached its peak rated capacity ahead of schedule. The company's success stems from streamlined operations management, enhanced efficiency, optimized resource utilization, and a strong commitment to environment, health, and safety (EHS) standards.

Industry Recognition

• 2013-14: BCML received the prestigious 'Coal Mining Contractor of the Year' award by FIMI at the Indian Coal Markets Conference.
• 2015-18: BCML has been consistently recognized as the 'Best Performing Civil Contract' winner by MCL for three consecutive terms between 2015-2018, highlighting our commitment to excellence.

Sustainability Leadership

• 2023: BCML was awarded as "5 Star Rating in Productivity Excellence Award 2022-23" by Odisha State Productivity Council's competition on "Productivity, Green Growth and Sustainability." The project focused on reducing the carbon footprint through lowered excavator fuel consumption in mining operations.

Pioneering Land Reclamation

• BCML holds the distinction of being the first MDO in India to successfully cultivate paddy on reclaimed land within a coal mine with Project Haryali. The Mission has been a success & crops grown over the land are Paddy (CR Dhan 206- GOPINATH) and pulses in the field for a duration of 110-120 days.
• Enhanced Coal Handling: Constructing a silo and a Rapid Loading System (RLS) to optimize coal handling operations.
• Developing Railway Infrastructure: Building a dedicated railway system to efficiently transport coal (5 MTPA) to end-use plants.
